This organization was started by Brian Medek, who in 1983 at the age of four was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and has since
lived a very active life. Knowing that currently, there are approximately 6 million people in the United States who have diabetes
and don't even know it, he set out the goal to get the word out on diabetes. Trying to reach as many people as possible about
the signs of diabetes, the current shocking diabetes statistics, the possible preventions, and ways that you can help in the fight
against diabetes.

Although we are not doctors, it is our goal to help spread awareness of the diabetes disease. More specifically our goal is to
help spread awareness of the symptoms of the diabetes disease. To make sure as many people as possible can recognize the
symptoms of diabetes, should they or someone they know ever experience them.

This organization was started in 2007 by a group with one thing in common, a passion to spread awareness for diabetes.
Knowing the struggles and complications that are associated with this disease, we all decided that we couldn't just sit back and
do nothing.

Today, we currently are interviewing bands to help us spread awareness, host a blog, and we use social networking sites, such
as facebook as a forum for diabetics to share their stories with us. In the future we plan to host support groups, camps, and
fund raisers to assist in the fight against diabetes and promote awareness. We are always looking for new friends to help us, so

OUR MISSION

“In the amount of time it takes each person to read this sentence two new people will be diagnosed and one
person will die from complications due to diabetes.”

This statement is the reason this nonprofit organization was started; Our goal is to try and reach as many people as possible so
they will know the signs and symptoms of diabetes, should they or someone they know ever experience them. We believe that
people need to know the current shocking diabetes statistics, the possible preventions of Type 2 diabetes, and ways they can
help in the fight against diabetes. Rock for Diabetes is committed to help spread awareness of diabetes that will help diagnose
those with diabetes who don’t know it and help those who are at risk.

Currently, diabetes is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States and at the going rate, 57 million or 15% of Americans
will have diabetes by the year 2050. There are currently 23.6 million people with diabetes in America – including an estimated 9
million who are undiagnosed.
